De-coding Landing Pages: What Are they?

I think of landing pages as marvels of art mixed with a tinge of logic and structure. For me, a landing page is my decorated shop. If a visitor makes their way to my shop, he either has an interest or intent to buy a solution to a problem he is battling.

The question that I ask myself is - Can I provide them with the solution he is looking for?


Point to note: Customers pay for solutions, not products or services. They like a product or a service only because it serves their needs, wants, or solves problems.


Another point to note: Customers want a smooth, stress-free journey during the whole buying process - also known as the customer journey.

What is Landing Page Copy - and What it is NOT?


To understand what Copywriting is, let’s first understand what it is not


Copywriting is not text that you can slap on your web or landing page. 


Landing copy that gets your visitor interested does the following:


  • Intends to solve a problem.

  • Connects with your visitor on ‘their’ level.

  • Guides and directs your visitor than hard-sell.


Copywriting that pushes visitors away typically does the following:


  • Focuses on fancy words and phrases to only get attention.

  • Only showing how great you or your services are.

  • Error-prone and poorly written, eventually turning the visitor away.

Reviews, customer logos, and testimonials - Social proof proves that others have taken your offer and experienced the advantages you claim. It promotes trust and persuades others to have it as well. People are much more likely to do business with sellers whose products or services have been validated by other buyers. This is called ‘social proof’. A call to action or a CTA i s self-explanatory. It gives the visitor something to do along the lines of making a business decision. With a call-to-action, a user can: Buy your product or service. Sign up for your newsletter. Contact you or your representative. Make any business decision or otherwise. Where is the Call-to-action best placed? A call-to-action gives your reader something to do. Although the strategies involving a call to action are numerous, the following CTAs can help. Learn more with XYZ (company name).
